Begone Unbelief

Filed under: Ponderings, Uncategorized — Hännah @ 7:07 pm

Begone unbelief, my Savior is near,
And for my relief will surely appear:
By prayer let me wrestle, and He wilt perform,
With Christ in the vessel, I smile at the storm.

Though dark be my way, since He is my Guide,
’Tis mine to obey, ’tis His to provide;
Though cisterns be broken, and creatures all fail,
The Word He has spoken shall surely prevail.

His love in time past forbids me to think
He’ll leave me at last in trouble to sink;
Each sweet Ebenezer I have in review,
Confirms His good pleasure to help me quite through.

Determined to save, He watched o’er my path,
When Satan’s blind slave, I sported with death;
And can He have taught me to trust in His Name,
And thus far have brought me, to put me to shame?

Why should I complain of want or distress,
Temptation or pain? He told me no less:
The heirs of salvation, I know from His Word,
Through much tribulation must follow their Lord.

How bitter that cup, no heart can conceive,
Which He drank quite up, that sinners might live!
His way was much rougher, and darker than mine;
Did Jesus thus suffer, and shall I repine?

Since all that I meet shall work for my good,
The bitter is sweet, the medicine is food;
Though painful at present, wilt cease before long,
And then, O! how pleasant, the conqueror’s song!

Revive ‘07

Filed under: Pursuing Godliness, Sermons, Theology, Uncategorized — Hännah @ 12:19 am

As you know (or should know), I go to a Sovereign Grace church in VA. Sovereign Grace (back in the PDI days) used to have regional conferences called Celebration _______ (insert region here) for their churches. Essentially, seven or eight SGM churches would take over a college campus for three or four days, and there would be great teaching, powerful times of worship, and constructive fellowship. It was great. But three years ago, the Celebration conferences got to be too big (3-4,000 people at each), and they had to call it all off.

This year, however, our smaller region decided to resurrect that conference idea (since it was sorely missed–we really are a family of churches). So this year, the churches from Virginia and West Virginia took over the James Madison University campus in Harrisonburg, VA for thee days (Jul 6-8).

I was given a chance to go to Revive ‘07 at the last minute, and was very blessed by my time there. The messages, in particular, were excellent and so I thought I’d share with you my notes from them. Please excuse my handwriting and the scribbles…I hope you can read them! You can double click (or right click and select “view image”) to see them enlarged.

Enjoy!

If you have any trouble reading them, let me know and I’ll try to take sharper pictures. Oh, and my notebook is a lovely Moleskine notebook.
